Marie Curie colection 1 2016The Rotary Club of Gravesend collected  over £500   for the Marie Curie Daffodil appeal last Saturday 20th Feb when the members put on funny (but warm) hats and sold trays of daffodils outside Tesco’s store in the New Road.

Pictured are Brandon Edwards (left) aged 4 from Gravesend and his cousin Ruby (right) aged 6  visiting  from Dover with Rotarian Andrew Moffat. (Click on the picture to see it full size)

Rotary Club President John Dyke said that “ Our club has served Gravesend for nearly 90 years and once again the people of Gravesham have shown they care for those in need.  On behalf of Marie Curie we  would like to thank Brandon and Ruby and all those shoppers  who helped  support such a good cause.”

The Rev Ken Berken visited the club on 22.2.16 to update members on his childrens charity in the village of Kigezi in Uganda. Our club has supported Ken in his work for some years and this time presented him with a cheque to help bring fresh water and sanitation to the orphan’s home in this remote part of Africa.

The photo shows International chairman Chris Keeble on the left, Ken in the centre and club President John Dyke on the right.
